Two members of the Sri Lanka under-19 cricket team have been arrested in Colombo over allegations of filming women bathing at a hotel in Narahenpita.
According to reports, the players were taken into custody earlier this week after women staying at the hotel complained that they were being secretly filmed using mobile phones while inside their bathrooms. The two cricketers have since been released on personal bail of LKR 500,000 each, as per ESPNcricinfo.

Police officials confirmed that an investigation is ongoing to determine whether any of the alleged videos were circulated online. The case was presented at the Aluthkade Magistrate’s Court, with the next hearing scheduled for May 25.
The incident comes at a time of significant upheaval within Sri Lanka Cricket, which is yet to announce any disciplinary action against the players.
In a parallel development, the board has undergone a major leadership overhaul. Former president Shammi Silva resigned with immediate effect, while the entire executive committee stepped down as part of a government-backed restructuring.
A new transformation committee has since been appointed to oversee SLC’s operations. The panel is chaired by former Member of Parliament Eran Wickramaratne and includes prominent names such as Kumar Sangakkara, Roshan Mahanama and Sidath Wettimuny.
While Sangakkara is the most high-profile cricketing figure on the panel, the committee largely comprises professionals from corporate, legal and political backgrounds, tasked with steering reforms within the board during this transitional phase.
SLC is yet to issue an official statement regarding the arrests, as investigations continue.
